Scarf Shop

kate just tweeted a link to this shop that she helped set up and i fell in love with the photography immediately, not to mention the beautiful scarves. scarfshop scarves are hand dyed in small batches by martha mcquade, meaning colour variations make your scarf one of a kind. the colours martha chooses to use are gorgeous, i especially love the neon pink/grey scarf from the aqueus collection. i think, if i had to choose, that would be the one for me. it would be a seriously tough decision though.

the amazing photographs are by sara montour, a portrait photographer from minneapolis. i love the style, i think she's captured the scarves so well.

Be Mine

i'm in love with this 'art pouch' from the new uniforma collection by the clever people over at little paper planes. it's pretty and useful, perfect!

"as an artist run business, lpp wants to offer objects we feel a kinship with, things we want to wear and use every day. these essentials make up our "uniform." uniforma's first collection is an art pouch, camera strap and wallet for the artist in all of us.

uniforma is our everyday uniform, they are the things we wear, carry, and use. uniforma is curious, stylish, and simple. we value form paired with function, design as collaboration, and supporting small and local artists."

the watermelon pink is my favourite, i'm so predictable. the camera strap and wallet from the collection are also lovely.

Stevie's Style

recently i've had a strange desire to float around in some kind of draped kimono/cape, totally normal way to feel, right? i think it may be thanks to the fleetwood mac documentary i watched, seeing stevie sway about in all her silky glory. has there ever been more of a babe than a young stevie nicks? i doubt it.

i think i need number one so i can fulfil my need to dress like some kind of dream hippie.

Anteroom

michela was kind enough to send me a copy of her book a little while ago, and it's taken me longer than it should have done to write about it here. i've been a big fan of michela's dreamy photographs for years and i'm so pleased she decided to put them together in such a beautiful way.

anteroom is a collection of michela's photographs taken over ten years, between 2002 and 2012. each  is as strange and beautiful as the last, it's so thoughtfully put together. my favourites of her photos tend to be the portraits, it's very rare that she shows the face of her subject, which has the effect of being personal and yet impersonal at the same time. i always feel as if i'm looking into another world when i look at michela's photographs, and it's wonderful to be able to visit that world through a real, physical, book, rather than a computer screen. the book itself is beautifully printed on matte paper (it smells amazing!),  in an edition of 200, each one signed by the artist, and you can buy it here or here

michela gave an interview to dazed digital about her book, which you can see here, it's an interesting read and so great that she is being recognised for her talent.

Holiday

i just got back from a really lovely week in france, i went with my boyfriend, my parents, my brothers and their girlfriends. we were down on the ile de ré and it was bloomin' beautiful. we had a much needed injection of sun (thanks for nothing, england) and we spent our time eating salted caramel ice cream, sunbathing, and cycling around on a tandem. the last part was especially fun!
